Kristen attended the University of Illinois and received a bachelor of science in Journalism in 1988. In 1991, she earned her J.D. with high honors from Chicago-Kent College of Law and was an editor of the Law Review. After graduation, Kristen was a law clerk for the Honorable Rudy Lozano, Federal District Judge for Northern District of Indiana. She is a Past President of the West Northfield School District 31 Board of Education, served on the board for eight years, and was also the President of the West Northfield School District 31 Education Foundation. She is a member of the Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association, the Greater North Shore Estate and Financial Planning Council, the Chicago District Golf Association, and the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce, in which she serves on the Board of Directors and completed the Leadership Northbrook program.
Kristen is also a member of North Shore LAW, an association of women attorneys, where she serves as a co-chair of the membership committee. She has assisted with the editing of two books, Not Dead Yet, Tie Up Loose Ends While You Can Still Make a Knot, by Eric G. Matlin and the Best Dating Advice I Ever Got 2, by Dr. Ali Binazir. She is the co-founder of the Phoenix Networking Group, is on the Board of Directors of the Career Resource Center, a not for profit employment counseling corporation in Lake Forest, IL, and is a licensed Real Estate Managing Broker.
