On February, 20, 2018, Lauren Cohen’s firm’s $3.5 million police shooting verdict was reinstated by the Illinois Appellate Court. Trial Judge Elizabeth Budzinski had negated the verdict based on a special interrogatory, but Donald A. Shapiro, Ltd. was able to establish that the special interrogatory was not inconsistent with the general verdict and therefore the general verdict had to be given effect. The case is Priscilla Price, Independent Administrator of the Estate of Niko Husband v. City of Chicago and Officer Marco Proano.
