A recent New York Law Journal article addresses the perils of lax cybersecurity in law firms as punctuated by the 2016 case of Shore versus Chicago-based law firm, Johnson and Bell, filed in the Northern District of Illinois. While the law firm recently posted a win by defeating class arbitration in the case, the case alleges legal malpractice, breach of contract and fiduciary duty and unjust enrichment related to the firms cybersecurity practices. The NYLJ article reminds attorneys that cybersecurity must be one of the core principles of the firm and best practices can be scaled to any size law firm. http://www.newyorklawjournal.com/id=1202780638080/Cybersecurity-and-Due-Care-for-Law-Firms?slreturn=20170219124500#
