Julie Lerman concentrates her practice in general civil litigation and insurance law, including insurance coverage and claims disputes on behalf of policyholders. Julie utilizes her extensive experience to offer solutions and resolution in a variety of different legal disputes through assertive and practical approaches.
Julie has significant background in real estate and condominium law, including disputes involving landlord/tenant issues, breach of contract, fraud, construction matters, condominium board action and inaction, and loan transactions.
In the area of insurance law, Julie represents insurance policyholders in enforcing their rights to insurance coverage after claim denials, including pursuing bad faith and contractual claims against insurance companies. She has been instrumental in recovering insurance proceeds in many disputed coverage matters arising out of a wide range of insurance claims–from health benefits to liability claims to property damage claims.
She is admitted to practice in Illinois and a member of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
In addition to her legal practice, Julie has extensive leadership and management experience in the nonprofit sector serving as on the board of directors of various organizations.
Education
Julie earned her Juris Doctor at Northwestern University School of Law, Chicago, IL, in 1982, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with High Distinction, from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, in 1979.
