Zisl (pronounced Zeesil) Edelson is an elder law, special needs, and estate planning attorney in Skokie, Illinois. She provides clients with personalized advice and services including revocable (living) trusts, irrevocable trusts, Medicaid asset protection trusts, third-party special needs trusts, first-party (OBRA)trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and Medicaid planning services. As an elder law and special needs attorney, she frequently advises individuals and their loved ones facing serious health challenges, including dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, stroke, developmental disabilities, and mental illnesses including bi-polar, anxiety, major depression, and addiction issues. For these families, Zisl strives to help them formulate estate plans which will honor the journey and individuality of their vulnerable loved ones, protect assets, and allow disabled clients to qualify for government benefits, including both Medicaid skilled care and community waiver programs. Zisl is an active member of the elder law and estate planning bar. She was appointed by the American Bar Association as co-chair of the Elder Law Committee of the Real Property Trusts and Estates Section for 2021-2022. She was also appointed to the Illinois State Bar Association Trusts and Estates Section Council for 2021-2022. Zisl also holds memberships in the Chicago Bar Association, the Chicago Estate Planning Council, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Zisl graduated from the University of Chicago Law School and Graduate School of Business and attended Sarah Lawrence College.
